Our Story is still a work in progress so please
bear with us.
To start with…Many of our customers – well, actually
most of our customers - ask how we landed on the name Blue Collar Joe's. Most people assume it's because
we offer simple yet incredible comfort food geared to the latent steelworker within all of us. The
truth is actually far less interesting.
We
became actively involved in animal rescue in 2001. We currently share our home with five rescued dogs of
our own – two German Shepherds, one terrier mix, one Cattle Dog cross, and one extraordinary Belgian Shepherd
(Malinois).
When looking to name our fledgling business, we knew for certain
that we wanted to incorporate a dog into our logo. Rather than debate a favorite from our own pack, we
decided to pick a “neutral” dog. Joe immediately came to mind.
Joe
was a big floppy-eared homeless mutt that we helped transport from a high-kill shelter to his new permanent home.
Though he passed through our lives for only a few hours, Joe had a profound impact on us. We named our business
in honor of him and all the other strays in need of a warm home and a loving family.
And, yes…Joe did have a blue collar.
